Ashley Graham was born on November 22, 1989 in Lincoln Nebraska. The twin sisters raised together, and she often faced bullying in school due to the large size of her legs. Shortly after completing elementary school, Graham was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (A.D.H.D. Graham was able to overcome this challenge along with other obstacles throughout her childhood. A talent agent spotted Graham aged 12 at the Nebraska shopping mall. Her work was featured in numerous publications and billboards prior to when she completed her graduation in Lincoln Southwest High School, in 2005. Due to her unique physique, it difficult to get jobs at the start of her career as a model. Graham accepted several catalog modeling offers over the years. However she was told repeatedly that it was impossible for her to advance beyond small projects. Sessions castings weren't right. Her career took off quickly. In 2007 she was interviewed by Sally Singer of "Vogue" magazine. This gave her one of her very first major breaks. In 2009, Graham was featured in "Glamour's" "These Bodies Are Beautiful At Any Size". Graham was in the news again in 2009 after she was featured in the controversial Lane Bryant commercial that ultimately was struck down in a number of countries. By the time the advertisement was pulled from YouTube the video had already been watched by more than 800,000. As the controversy grew, she appeared on Jay Leno's "The Tonight Show". Graham was soon a well-known plus size model. Grande started singing and acting when she was a young child. In 2008, she got a part on her first Broadway show 13 before she began to appear in TV roles of a smaller size. In 2010, she had her biggest breakthrough, landing a part on the Nickelodeon television show Victorious. She played Cat Valentine, a teenager studying at a school for performing arts. The show ended in 2013, and she starred on the spinoff, Sam & Cat.
